Explosive Softball

Hi bloggers. Yesterday I played softball with KC. Softball is a game sort of like baseball. When you hit the ball with the bat you need to run to the 1st base and after each hit you run to the next base. Some of the rules for softball is if you catch the ball on the full the person who hit the ball is out. Also if the ball goes behind the batter it counts as a foul ball. I find softball a great sport and it’s fun. I think that I could get better at catching with the gloves and get better at throwing the ball. Have you ever played softball before?

Te Reo Weather Report

Lately in Te Ngahere we have been writing a weather report in Te Reo Maori. We are learning to confidently and clearly say a weather report in Te Reo Maori. I am in a Group with Vaughan, Calais, Reminis and I. Our goal was to tell the weather for six places, introduce ourselves and have a map for each place. 

I think that I am doing well but I know that I can improve on saying the Te Reo more confidently.

In Te Ngahere we have been writing a weather report in Te Reo Maori. Well are learning to confident and clearly say a weather report in Te Reo.  My  group is Calais and Reminis. We are telling the weather for six different places in New Zealand. The first thing that we had to do was introduce ourselves. We also had to include a welcome and  goodbye statement the last thing was we had to have a map for each place. I think that I am doing really well. One thing that I know that I can improve on is actually know what I am saying in Te Reo.

Keep Your Breath

Last term I did Cross Country at Bledisloe Domain. I ran with the 13 and 12 year olds. I placed  5th. I had to wait for the five year old, 6 year olds, 7 year old, 8 year olds, 9 year olds 10 year olds and 11 year olds before I could race. I had to run over a hill then back down a hill, I had a great time. Next year I will be ready. I think that I could have started off slowly so I didn’t run out of energy right at the beginning. I think that I did really well overall.

To The Extreme

 Hi bloggers Today I will be posting about my School Holidays. In the Holidays I went on the Extreme Jet Boat on the Paihia Wharf. Before we went on the boat we were told the safety rules like always hold the handlebars, don’t stand up and always wear your life jacket. There was one last thing that they told us which was when he spins his hand, it means that he’s going to do a massive turn. When the boat started it sounded like something blowing up. When we got out of the bay the boat rapidly sped up. The first turn was the best it felt like a massive wave smacking you in the face. It is the best ride I have ever been on.  I had the best time I do think that the people could have gone faster.

Amazing Letter Writing

Lately in Te Ngahere we have been writing a letter to Troy and Gustavo. We are writing them a letter because the came into our class and did The Wonder Project. Our success criteria was, have a correct layout, paragraphs and to make the letter personalised. 

I Like writing letters because of the way that they are set out. What I think that I could do better is add more detail to my writing.

What is Mahi Toi?

Lately in Te Ngahere we have been doing Mahi Toi. Mahi Toi Means art. 

Before we could do a big copy we had to practice the basic skills like drawing straight lines, continuous lines, curved lines and drawing with our elbow instead of our wrist. 

I enjoy doing Mahi Toi because we get to draw patterns. What I could improve on is using my elbow more than my wrist. What I could do better is follow the lines because they are a little faded out and I could barely see them.

Writing Explosion

Lately in Te Ngahere  we have been writing an explanation on what forces a rocket needs to fly. Explanation Writing is when you write to explain something. I am writing to explain how thrust, drag, weight and air pressure all help bottle rockets fly. 

I found this hard because everyone had to use passive voice which is when you can’t use I, me, we, you, your and our. What I could do better is write to explain a bit more.

Movie Making Marathon

Hi bloggers. Lately in Te Ngahere we have been making movies. My movie is about a cop chase. In my movie group it consists of Shay, Warren, Zac and Mikaire (Me). Warren and I are prisoners that escape prison and are on the run. Shay and Zac caught the prisoners. I find that making the movie was very hard because I couldn’t get the actions right and I couldn’t keep a straight face. What I could do better next time is stop laughing in the middle of the films. Explaining Explanation Writing

Lately in Te Ngahere we have been planning for an Explanation writing. Explanation writing is when you write to explain the topic you are learning about. We first had to write a plan about how forces cause bottle rockets to fly because we have been doing the Wonder Project lately. I find this enjoyable because we get to plan each paragraph and its easy. I also find this hard a bit because I had no clue what an Explanation sequence was or an Identifying statement. Crazy Math

This week in Te Ngahere we have been learning about equivalent fractions for maths. Equivalent fractions are fractions that mean the same thing. For example

½ and 2/4 both say one half. I find equivalent fractions hard because I didn’t really understand equivalent fractions at first and now I understand what equivalent fractions are. Do you know what equivalent fractions are?

Movie Rush

Lately in Te Ngahere we have been making movies for the movie festival. My movie is about a prison break. In my group there is Shay, Warren, Zac and Mikaire (Me). I enjoy this because most of the mistakes that we make are funny, also making the movie is very fun. I found  that making the movies are hard because you can’t make up words or just play around when you want in the movie. I also don’t like movie making because it has to be perfect. I found that being in the movie is very hard to get the words right and the actions right. Have you ever made a movie before? Here’s my DLO

Writing Scripts

Lately in Te Ngahere we have been writing movie scripts. We are writing scripts because we are going to make a movie with the script. We are making movies for a film festival. My script is about criminals escaping prison. I am in a group of 4 Zac, Warren, Shay and Me. I enjoy this because it’s fun to make movies and we could make the movie about anything. Creative Writing

Lately in Te Ngahere we have been planning a narrative story. In our stories we have to include a rocket because we are doing the wonder project and we will be launching a rocket for the wonder project. My narrative is about a zombie apocalypse. I like writing narratives because they challenged me. I found it hard to write the plan because I have never written a plan for a narrative before.

Magic Mosaic

Hi bloggers.

In Te Ngahere we have been doing Mosaic Art. Mosaic art is when you use small shapes or the polyline tool to make an animal or a person. My art is of a dog, and I guess that it’s going along well. I am struggling with making small shapes to cover the whole entire picture. I enjoyed doing this type of art as well because I got to choose what to do Mosaic art on.

Te REO FUN

Lately we have been learning how to read te reo maori.
For te reo my teacher read a book to us. Then we got given
cards to cut out. The cards had words on them that we had to learn.
  I enjoyed this because it's fun to learn how to pronounce the words.

Tik Tok Marathon

Last week in Te Ngahere for our assembly we did two tik tok dances. I liked this because it was fun and funny. One of the dances were savage love and the other one I got plans for me for me and you. My Favorite part was learning the dances because it  was the funniest part because everyone was doing it in funny ways. Here is a video of our dance. Courageous Angles

Lately in Te Ngahere we we have been learning about all the different types of angles. I have learnt around 6 new angles which are acute, obtuse, right, straight, full rotation and reflex. I did find angles hard at first because there was a lot to remember like all there names and their degrees. Here's a DLO that me and a few friends made enjoy.

MATH RULES

In Te Ngahere we have been doing math about fractions. What I am learning for fractions is to find fractions of a set. I like learning about fractions because it's fun to learn new things and it's challenging . At first I found it hard to understand what the numerator and denominator are, In the end I made it. Ping Post Boss

In Te Ngahere we just started a trick shot. Well were doing the same trick shot
again. We are doing a ping pong ball challenge. Our success criteria was 1 it
must  bounce off a surface, 2 we had to use cardboard and 3 it has to go for 3
seconds at least. This time my group is Dale, Rymon and Darcy also me Mikaire.

Our plan is  we have to make the ping pong ball bounce off the cup then it
goes down the cardboard into the cup. I am glad we can do this again
because last time we failed. Thankfully we did completed it this time.

Trick Shot Bot

Hi bloggers How are you? In my class Te Ngahere we did a trick shot challenge with a ping pong ball, a cup and some cardboard. We had to make a three second track. The ball had to bounce off a surface and we had to use cardboard. Here is a video on how it went What was your plan? To drop the ball pass a bump to make it go over into the the cup. What worked well? We got the ball in the cup twice. What didn’t work well? We were fighting over who would throw the ball. What did you change? We changed a lot of things like were we put the ball We put the ball where the most flat are area was. How did your group overcome challenge We changed around where we put our cup and cardboard. What variables did you change? We changed quite a lot of stuff especially our cardboard and we moved onto the steps. .What would you do differently next time? Next time we would try to make some boundaries so the ping pong ball would definitely go in.

Ginger or Ginger

In class yesterday we were learning to identify math in the world around using our math eyes. I noticed that there buttons on each gingerbread man weren’t the same color.I also saw that the color that the gingerbread men were different. The last thing I saw was a cup in between two of the gingerbread man.

I liked this because it was fun to learn something new. I do think I wasn’t really trying to do this but it was still enjoyable.

Airline Logo

 What do you guys think of my logo. It means safety good trip and don't worry. I chose this because lions are fierce so it represents that there is nothing to worry about and that it will be a good trip.  I LIke this because it was fun drawing the Logo then making it.

keyboard shortcuts and What They Do.

Today I will be teaching all of you how to use and find all keyboard shortcuts. The first one that you will be learning is ctrl alt + / this will open up all of the keyboard commands. The next one is ctrl shift t which will open the previous tab ctrl w will close the tab that you are on. I enjoyed learning about keyboard commands because I got to learn something new and now I know a lot more keyboard commands. I found it hard because it wasn’t easy to find the shortcuts and remember them. Some of the slides I found easy but not all of them.Is there a command to open multiple tabs at once?

Swimming blast

Last week I went swimming at the beach because our pool is out of action. We walked down to Ti bay. It takes about 5 minutes to get there but it doesn't bother me. After we got there we had to listen to the teacher for the instructions. The type of swim style that we were learning to do was breaststroke. I find breaststroke hard but easy at the same time because  I know how to do it but I find it hard moving my legs at the same time as my arms. I enjoyed going down at the beach because it's really fun.

SWIMMING

On Monday we went swimming but only half of my class went because some of the other students forgot to bring their togs and notice back, but me I was lucky to bring my notice so I could go swimming. We had to walk the down to Ti bay then listen to the teacher for a certain amount of time talking about swimming techniques. Then we were allowed to go into the cold wavey water. After that we got some free time like always. I love going to the beach to learn how swim because it's fun and it's a good place to learn so that you can get use to the waves and currents.  

TURBO TOUCH

On Tuesday we played turbo touch, turbo touch is a sport when you really are just playing touch but you have to touch the people with two hands and you have to pass the ball twice before you can score. The fun bit about it was when I scored a goal because I felt proud inside. I learned how to play turbo touch on the second day I came back to school. I really enjoyed turbo touch because it's a new sport and it's just fun. I find dodging all the defenders hard. Here are the instructions on how to play turbo touch. Click here to learn more    

TECH

Last week we went to technology, technology is when we go to Moerewa School  and do wood work with Mister E. This week we made Pewter Jewelry. Pewter is a type of metal. My design is a flower because me and my mum garden together. The first thing we had to do was draw out our design. Then we had to draw it on a piece of wood. After we did that, we used a skill saw and cut out our design and after that it was lunch. After lunch we were going to put Pewter in our design but we ran out of time.

TURBO TOUCK RUSH

In Te Ngahere we played Turbo Touch its kinda like Touch. It's like Touch except you can pass anywhere and you have to touch the other team with two hands. You also only have two touches before you need to hand the ball to the other team and if you drop the ball it is an automatic hand over. We had to jump into teams of 5 so that it was five on five. The first game me and my team (Jamie, Ben, Shay, Mikaire and Anthony) played we lost. What I did well was that I shared the ball.  What my team did well was cooperating
